Concept

The project, realized in concomitance with the international competition announced by Castelnuovese S.c.r.l. for the redevelopment of the Ex Bricchettificio di San Giovanni Valdarno, to be used as a new headquarters for the Group, yes inserts in a large area, to be redeveloped, positioned at the edge of the urban context. The concept phase started with a careful material analysis of the building, moved by the intent to enhance the elements of industrial archeology present on the site, and a classification and evaluation of the machinery, still present, which composed the production cycle, with the intent of reusing them as elements of historical memory. The project therefore plans to maintain the existing perimeter walls, to insert internally, a new one building in iron, wood and glass, concealed, in fact, behind the pre-existing listed wall. It derives an envelope with a strong visual and emotional impact, which denotes, immediately, the industrial origins of the site, but from the elevated performance characteristics.
